Rolls-Royce implements ePurchasing.

As part of its ongoing drive to reduce costs Rolls-Royce plc has entered into a long term agreement with ePurchase provider SynerDeal.

Having successfully trialed Internet reverse auctions on non-critical purchases Rolls-Royce became convinced that Internet enhanced purchasing processes could generate significant cost reductions in prices of direct production items as well.

SynerDeal is a major provider of eSourcing and ePurchasing services to manufacturing industry. Set-up in 1999 by Didier Picot (previously Vice President of Purchasing at Airbus) SynerDeal has now sourcing centres throughout Europe. On being awarded the Rolls-Royce agreement, Mr Picot remarked that clients like Rolls-Royce can not ignore the very real purchase price reductions being achieved through the Internet reverse auction process.
