SynerDeal manages a joint Call for Tenders for computer consumables by Faurecia and Trèves.
Faurecia and Trèves, two leading car part manufacturers, issued a joint Call for Tenders for the first time for the purchase of computer consumables. SynerDeal was selected to organise and negotiate the Call for Tenders using their reverse auction procedure on the Internet.
The principal objective of the two companies was to test the advantages of new purchasing techniques developed by SynerDeal. Additionally they wanted to rationalise their supply base and create a sole supplier contract. To achieve this, they liased between several European locations in order to harmonise international requirements.
"The harmonisation work on product references carried out with the assistance of SynerDeal was without doubt one of the key reasons for the auction's success" agreed both Ms Couriet-Bossan of Trèves and Mr Amico for Faurecia.
A 7% cost reduction was achieved prior to any negotiations with suppliers. SynerDeal achieved these savings by helping Faurecia and Trèves to:
Publish a RFQ for computer consumables and associated peripherals that would attract responses form a wide range of European suppliers.
Rationalise the existing product lines in order to optimise pricing by increasing category spend. As a result, the number of line items was reduced by 75% without adversely affecting functionality.
SynerDeal ensured equality between European suppliers for the auction. Each supplier proposal was judged by SynerDeal on the basis of economic and logistical criteria defined by Trèves and Faurecia. Any deviation between the tender response and the stated specifications was marginalised through an equalisation procedure, which was applied via tender-price weighting coefficients during the auction.
Online negotiation achieved additional 7% reduction in cost of purchase, resulting in an overall saving of 14%.
